Diamond Edge version 2.55 is the latest version of the well-known disk management tool, previously distributed by Oregon Research.
 | supports FAT12 (floppy) or FAT16 (hard disk) filesystems: partition sizes of up to 1 GB are supported, depending on the operating system in use |
| optimises (defragments) partitions: partitions can be optimised for reading or writing |
| copies partitions, either as an image or with defragmentation |
| zeros, unzeroes, and wipes partitions |
| tests and repairs disk structures |
| undeletes files: Diamond Mirror (included) permits successful undeletion even with fragmented files |
| validates files (using checksum or CRC) to detect file modification |
| saves and restores FAT/root directory information |
| maps bad disk sectors |
The following additional functions are also supported if a SCSIDRV driver is present:
| save and restore partitioning information |
| partition hard disks |
Both Atari and ICD partitioning schemes are supported.
Version 2.55 is mostly a bug-fix release; however, a number of new features have been added, including:
| CD devices are now detected and omitted from display and selection (for example, in the 'All info' table) |
| devices on buses other than the standard Atari ACSI/SCSI/IDE are now accessible, through the use of the SCSIDRV interface |
| the file and help viewer has been completely rewritten and now supports scrolling backwards as well as forwards |
